Marshal Healea noticed two suspicious acting men who had awakened a gas station owner to obtain gasoline for their car. Upon questioning them, his suspicions grew. Healea checked with other towns and learned the men had not been truthful. He returned to the station and began to search for them, but when he turned his back on one of the suspects, the other drew a gun and shot the marshal.
