Expansion Project

The Kansas Law Enforcement Memorial honors law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty, to forever remind us of their service. Donors to the foundation provided the funds needed to complete the expansion of the memorial in 2020. The expansion project added four granite outer walls, a lighting system, expanded walkways, relocated the memorial benches, and restored landscaping.

The expansion is designed to symbolize the long-lasting ripple effect each officer has on their community, with a new outer ring embracing the original monument. Constructed of the same granite used in the 2004 reconstruction, the outer ring provides space for 384 plates, should additional tributes become necessary.

Standing sentinel at each entry, bollards emit a soft clue light remind visitors of the service Kansas law enforcement officers provide. The same blue light, integrated into the outer ring, echoes the promise that we will not forget the fallen officers’ sacrifice.
