Circumstances of Death:
On the late afternoon of October 30, 2020, Deputy Corporal Daniel Abramovitz, age 59, while operating his patrol vehicle and engaged in his patrol duties, entered a rural Leavenworth County intersection. His patrol vehicle was struck by a unified school district bus whose driver failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign. Corporal Abramovitz’s patrol vehicle suffered significant crushing damage from the collision, resulting in his fatal injuries. A 28-year veteran sheriff’s deputy, Deputy Corporal Abramovitz is survived by his wife, three adult children and one grandchild.
