Sheriff Allan Weber, age 63, a 24-year veteran Sheriff, had been working for several months in the Gove County Emergency Operations Center responding daily to the COVID-19 pandemic affecting his county, which included assisting with COVID-19 ambulance transfers. On September 28, 2020, Sheriff Weber tested positive for COVID-19 and was later hospitalized. Following a short battle with the COVID virus, Sheriff Weber succumbed to medical complications resulting from his COVID exposure. Sheriff Weber is survived by his wife and three adult children.
